Buy-In From the User: Why Student Opinion of CBT Matters (Especially When it Changes)

Presented by Dr. Veronica Michaelsen, Assistant Dean for Evaluation, George Washington University School of Medicine Computer-based testing (CBT), like any other innovation, should be implemented thoughtfully. Prior to a full-scale implementation that coincided with a revised curriculum, the George Washington University School of Medicine introduced ExamSoft to its current first-year class of students. While being surveyed, those students were asked at two points early in the process for their opinions and concerns about CBT. Their feedback is now being used to inform a full-scale implementation. Additionally, once students had been given the opportunity to use the secure laptop and iPad-testing platform being offered, their collective opinion of CBT improved in a statistically significant fashion.
