Introducing LawClassFeedback: Innovative assessment support for success in legal education

June 6, 2016 Christy Terry

The American Bar Association recently made changes to accreditation standards to ensure optimal student learning in legal education. One major update to law school requirements is feedback.

Feedback is quite possibly the most effective tool educators can give students to foster improvement and meet academic goals; however, it often takes a backseat to the day-to-day tasks involved with conducting classes.

We figured that there had to be an easier way for law professors to find time to fit feedback into their overwhelming schedules. Our solution? ExamSoft has partnered with leading publisher Wolters Kluwer to bring you LawClassFeedback, an assortment of pre-made formative assessments designed to deliver the data you need to provide direct evidence of student learning.

Hold on. Can I really trust pre-made assessments?

Absolutely. Wolters Kluwer’s formative quizzes have been carefully crafted by law professors, with quality exam questions tied to textbooks in each subject area for targeted answer review.

Are the assessments difficult to administer?

Not at all! LawClassFeedback exams are assembled for you in the ExamSoft platform. Just select the exam availability date of your choice and you’re good to go.

Are students required to take LawClassFeedback exams on a certain device?

Just as with all of your ExamSoft assessments, students have access to exams on personal devices or institution-owned devices.

How do I access feedback once an exam is complete?

Assessments are scored immediately upon completion, and detailed performance reports are aggregated to provide professors and students with actionable data. Students are equipped with answer rationale that directs them to specific learning sources, while professors are given insight into weak areas that may need to be reviewed in future classes.

There you have it: the benefits of LawClassFeedback in a nutshell. This new feature from ExamSoft and Wolters Kluwer is designed to fully support legal education and help ease the task of meeting new ABA standards, but don’t just take our word for it. See for yourself.
